Biog
A multiplicity of sound layers pierced by one single beat. That would be a simple definition to describe the complexity but straightforwardness of the music from this band from Osaka. However, there is no special Japanese flavor here, and it would be best if we could please once and for all retire these tired cliches.

Los Satanicpornocultshop chucks a puzzling, destabilizing and futuristic hip hop. One of the main features of this band is that they make music gush from the most arid field recording session. Give a Stanley knife or a red-bear shaped lighter to Ugh, and he?fll make it swing in a snap. Ugh is a real human sampler, a junk sound edit virtuoso. And that is undoubtedly Satanicpornocultshop main strength. Just ad to that an immense musical culture, a taste for ultimate groove and pop music satire, and you will have a pretty good idea of what makes that band so unique.

Los Satanicpornocultshop collective have been active since 1998 with their own label NuNuLAXNuLAN (blog) and CD-R sub-label NEJI. We hope that this collaboration with SONORE will bring them the audience that their musical creativity definitly deserves.

2006 is definitely opening the third act of Satanicpornocultshop. First, they participate in the thematic Italian fashion magazine Uovo by providing a track for their ‘Pink’ compilation. And they received the Digital Music Honorary Mention in Europe’s prestigious PRIX ARS ELECTRONICA competition with "Zap Meemees". And they also received the Research of the electronic music Qwartz Awards in France. Two new members join the band : MC Frosen Pine with his unique mimic rhyme style, and the magic organist Nakagawa aka Liftman. They performed at the prestigious Cite de la Musique in Paris in June. They release ".aiff Skull EP" on Vivo Records, Poland.

In 2007, Satanicpornocultshop participates in WFMU radio program feature "Raymond Scott", and "52 short weeks" by peppermill records, Canada. "Custom Drum Destroyer Remixes" is released from neji in April. In September, they participates "U Can' t Touch Dis:The New Asian Art "at ZONE:Chelsea Center for the Arts, New York. In October they performs to "The Third Mind" at Palais de Tokyo, Paris and "Experimentaclub07". Disco_r.dance, UK release tytle song from "Custom Drum Destroyer Remixes" in December.

In 2008. Release "Takusan No Ohanasan" in Vivo Records, Poland. Also featured on WFMU's "Beware of the Blog" in my "Vote for your favorite WFMU Myspace Friends" series and were voted a favorite band.

Elisabeth Arkhipoff × Sport Hit Paradise

The second exhibition at 12Mail Paris will open on friday 11th december, the artist is a young illustrator currently living in New York called Elisabeth Arkhipoff. Elisabeth works a lot in the music (M83, Dj Medhi, Hell, Dirty) and fashion fields (Anna Sui, Swarovski, ShowSTUDIO, Vogue US & Japan...).

Elisabeth asked Arkhipoff 10 international musicians to record a track for an imaginary band called "Sport Hit Paradise". She gave the title of each track as well as the general direction and worked on some pieces based on the songs (drawings, collages, posters). the pieces will be showed at the gallery and 300 numbered cd's of the first "Sport Hit Paradise" album will be produced...

Every song is nothing more than a big "what if?". What if Strømmen was forced to import labour from Indonesia? What if Strømmen was surrounded by cotton fields? What if alcohol was still prohibited and young and old labourers alike chewed khat every Saturday evening? What if the Yakuza ran pachinko parlors at the local mall? What if the local government invited Uri Geller to arrange workshops in circuit bending and gender bending? What if Christmas were celebrated in seedy love hotels? What if everyone went home in a rickshaw after a night out? What if Stevie Wonder was pulling it? This is not music. This is Counterfactual Nu-Bricolage.

As a visual counterpart to all this recycling and restructuring of musical material, designers Yokoland have made a record sleeve with pictures containing only materials and objects that are in use on previous C.O.U. sleeves.

This record is a lot more conventional than Koppen's previous endeavours. Sometimes it moves dangerously close to a pure pop soundscape, but it is still packed with obscure samples and spastic beats. Electronic digi-funk melodies are combined with blues- and hip hop-influenced vocals – and even traces of gospel can be heard. Soundbytes are taken from a huge variety of sources from around the world.

In addition to his long time producer Sissyfus, Koppen's band today consists of Håvard Ese Eliassen on saxophone, Oui Oui on vocals and keyboard, 2mas on vocals and keyboard and Ergo on vocals and percussion. The new album includes an additional disc, containing four remixes from the Japanese pioneers in electronic music: Satanicpornocultshop. Their maximalist approach to groovy music fits hand in glove with Koppen’s music. The disc also contains remixes by the Center of the Universe and the Norwegian skweee-ambassador Easy.

Sky burial or ritual dissection was once a common funerary practice in Tibet wherein a human corpse is cut in specific locations and placed on a mountaintop, exposing it to the elements or the mahabhuta and animals – especially to birds of prey. In Tibetan the practice is known as jhator, which literally means, "giving alms to the birds."
The majority of Tibetans adhere to Buddhism, which teaches rebirth. There is no need to preserve the body, as it is now an empty vessel. Birds may eat it, or nature may let it decompose. So the function of the sky burial is simply the disposal of the remains. In much of Tibet the ground is too hard and rocky to dig a grave, and with fuel and timber scarce, a sky burial is often more practical than cremation. --- However, Eitaro hopes for own cremation.
