Featuring the work of: Goil Amornvivat, Brendan Fernandes, Hiroshi McDonald Mori, Yoskay Yamamoto, Lisha Bai Ramya, Ravisankar, O Zhang, Yun Bai, Min Kim, Satanicpornocultshop, Toby Barnes, Susan Lee-Chun, Wei Shen, Angel Chang, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Saya Woolfalk

Presenting the work of 16young artists, many showing in New York for the first time, U Can’t Touch Dis introduces a cacophony of voices, images, sounds and sites that transform the traditional aesthetic tropes of Asian art into a new visual language based on global currents in new wave music, fashion, aesthetics and pop culture. These artists, from across Asia and the Asian diaspora in the West, create the “New Asian Art,” a philosophical nexus of production that is changing the face of Asia and indeed the world.

From Satanicpornocultshop’s hybrid mix of pop, experimental and death metal music to Saya Woolfalk’s full-room soft sculpture and video installations that revolve around scarily cute depictions of life and death, the New Asian Artists included in the exhibition break the rules of race, class and gender normativity, creating dynamic works that are smart, troubling, beautiful and eclectic in equal measure. Many of the artists in the exhibition throw the idea of “Asia” into the trash bin, instead identifying themselves as part of a truly global flow of information, identities and positions. Some have punk rock sensibilities, whereas others are old-school academics with a penchant for releasing the oft talked about “other”; no matter their stance, they make art that screams out in rebellion, whether subtle in nature or too hot to touch.

The exhibition will explore the concept of what it means to be an “Asian” artist in the early 21st-century, and indeed if that label is still applicable in the first place. All of the artists in the show consciously displace themselves from the tropes of Asia, whether geographically through their decision to leave Asia and move or work abroad, or philosophically in terms of their reflective stance on their own identities, mixed and varied as they are. From Chinese artists living in New York, to a Canadian artist born in Kenya and of Indian ancestry, the artists in U Can’t Touch Dis are citizens of the world, a trait readily depicted in their cutting edge work.

The exhibition includes works ranging from painting (Lisha Bai, Yun Bai, Barnes, Kim, Matsuyama, Ravisankar and Yamamoto) to sculpture (Lee-Chun, Fernandes and Woolfalk), as well as photography (Mori, Wei, Zhang), conceptual design (Amornvivat), fashion (Chang) and music (Satanicpornocultshop).

Artistas de Japón, Argentina, China, Corea, Uruguay, Brasil, Francia, Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Canadá, Grecia, Austria, Suiza... Y por supuesto de nuestro país.
Y novedades: en 2007 no habrá Festival Minúsculo pero en su lugar, y en el mismo espacio (la sala audiovisual), se llevarán a cabo por vez primera 3 conciertos muy especiales que encajarán como un guante en una sala de estas características.

bebedelbanco 1st Album "Kaikai" (neji-94)

"bebedelbanco", a chopstick crust core band formed by Ugh, Frosen Pine, DJ Sogawa (ex. es) of Satanicpornocultshop and Taiki (TIKE), Comzo, SANgNAM of orionza releases their 1st album called "KaiKai" (neji-94) on May 11th 2007 (the day of chopsticks), contains 24 songs and more with a pair of wooden chopsticks as a supplement.

"Kaikai" is a word of their original. The circumstances of today in Japan, the large number of population of age around 60 had retired in this year. They are so called "dankai" means a chunk, "a huge chunk" in actual. But "kai" also means "breaking up" in another Chinese character. That means bebedelbanco says goodbye to the huge old generation and brings a new style of loud rock: breaking up the chunk. In this album they shows that you cannot say a wall of loud guitars and drums are not necessary for loud rock, hardcore etc. anymore. Sounds like chopsticks which are not a piece like spoon and so flexible to lift the foods. (Ichikawa, Iml)

Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard remixes!!

Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard is French electro pop artist. She release "CHANSON D'AMOUR" single tape in June. Satanicpornocultshop did 4-exclusive promotion remixes. It's possible to listen to remixes on her web site.

Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard: Crame from Mortauxjeunes Records contacted me and knew how to ring my bell to get me interested in Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard: by mentioning Lio as a musical reference (he also mentioned Niagara, Elli & Jacno and France Gall - but he had me at Lio). And indeed, Catherine's bubblegum-electro is as good as any Lio-hitsong. But wait, it gets better: CF-B's songs do not get a proper cd-release, non, they will be released on that great 80s format: a cassette. When I read that, a nostalgic tear ran down my cheek. And it doesn't stop there: Catherine recorded a cover of Regrets' Rentrer Chez Moi Seule, a fantastic French eighties-hit. It stays pretty close to the original, but that's a good thing! Raymond Scott's electronic music productions from the 1950s thru the 1980s have achieved greater public recognition since the artist's death in 1994 than they did during his working life. In 1997, his 1964 infant lullabyes, Soothing Sounds for Baby, made their CD debut to wide critical acclaim. Manhattan Research, Inc., a 2-CD set of vintage Scott electronica, received an equally warm welcome upon its release in 2000.MRI's long-awaited sequel, covering the early 1960s thru the late 1970s, is planned for 2008. The as-yet untitled collection will be co-produced by Gert-Jan Blom and Jeff Winner.Ergo Phizmiz, who hosts The Phuj Phactory on WFMU radio, is editing together an hour of Scott electronica reinvented by today's DJs, mixologists, and technophiles. The program, entitled "Cyclic Bits: The Raymond Scott Variations," airs Wednesday, May 16, and will feature Frankenscott creations by:

One of Satanicpornocultshop destroyed the custom drum that the club owned last year. They were scolded by the owner. They troubled a lot of people on that night. The amends fee was a little sum according to the kindness of parties concerned. They composed "Custom Drum Destroyer" reflecting the next day. And, to regain the amends fee of the custom drum, this CDR is released...
However, this album is a mass of a strong sound. This is composed of not only the remix but also a wide-ranging technique like the cover and the mash up, etc by Vernon LeNoir, Necro Sand, Dag Shen Ma, orionza, Hotentot Apron, Beam Up, Beach, Invader, MC Frosen Pine and ugh. Is this acquittal?　Or, is it IDM challenge in 2007?

Franz Eto organized Electric Cafe, Eto Band, Unipue Skeleten, and The Men, etc. He came back to Nu NuLAX NuLAN today though he stopped all the activities two years ago, and had gone out to travel for a while.

Eto's souvenir is new release "The Letter (neji-95)" under his personal name. He make pastoral electro like Neu! that enjoys basking in Wakakusa-yama, nara. He play Korg or Roland's Anarog synthsound, guitar, bass. Enjoy new season.

Dag Shen Ma a.k.a Eitaro Higuchi releases a new album "2nd Custom (neji-96, neji 2007, CDR)" from neji. This is the sweet sounds to throw away various sweet music to the juicer. Eitaro don't mix aesthetically. He didn’t mix but put them in the box and shake it. A good cook doesn't completely destroy the material. Higuchi Eitero is born and lives in Kyoto. Younger he spent all his time playing soccer.
